This was an act of utterly horrendous cruelty. South Yorkshire woman Laura Cunliffe, 23, cooked 4-month-old Mowgli for five minutes, frying her organs and condemning her to die in agony.
In addition to her jail time she is banned for having animals for life! Justice was served.
After removing her from the oven at her home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, the animal was still alive despite having its internal organs cooked. It struggled to breathe, and eventually died some 90 minutes later. Cunliffe, who claims to suffer from depression, reportedly condemned her pet to the horrific death after thinking she’d attacked her beloved goldfish.
She was jailed at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court Thursday after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
Cunliffe, who has been banned from keeping animals for life, confessed to the crime three days later during a visit to her local hospital, according to the Mirror.
“This was an act of utterly horrendous cruelty on your part on an animal that, as far as I could see, had come to trust you and rely on you,” said District Judge John Foster.
Lynsey Harris, from animal charity group RSPCA, said it was one of the worst cases she’d ever come across.
“It is a horrific case in the fact the death of the cat would have been prolonged and it is unimaginable what it would have gone through, taking some time to die,” she said.
